Design to Fit Who You Are

Homeowners come to me for a variety of reasons - the need for more space and comfort, for changes in function, better circulation, and for style that better suits their taste. Some projects are from the ground up; others are remodels, additions, or a combination of the two. I've worked on houses that date from early 20th century to the present, and on projects that vary widely in scope, budget, and character.

My primary goal is to create beautiful, well designed results that meet a homeowner's vision, needs, and budget. I approach each assignment with a fresh perspective and take time to get to know my clients, their preferences, and the project conditions. The final product is a unique reflection of their lifestyle and personal taste. I also try to make the design and construction experience as stress-free as possible. Much of this stems from efforts toward collaborative relationships between the homeowner, myself, and the contractor.
My Background
For the first fifteen years of my career, I was employed as a licensed architect to work on a wide range of commercial projects for architecture firms in Texas, Mississippi, and Oregon. Since then, I've acquired over twenty years of experience as a residential architect and interior designer in my own Portland practice. Most of my work is through client referrals and I have many repeat clients.

Getting Started
The process begins with an on-site meeting - an opportunity to introduce myself to you, see the site, and discuss your goals for the project. With that information, I draw up a fee proposal for my services. Once the proposal is accepted, we work out a project schedule and get started.
